Diablo 4’s Exciting New Wave-Based Roguelite Mode in Season 5

Blizzard Entertainment is introducing a thrilling new feature in Season 5 of Diablo 4: the wave-based roguelite mode, Infernal Hordes. This new mode promises to add layers of excitement and challenge, pushing players to their limits against ever-increasing waves of enemies.

Infernal Hordes: The New Mode

Infernal Hordes will immerse players in the Realm of Hatred, where they'll face timed waves of enemies. Using an item called the Infernal Compass, players will gather burning aether dropped by defeated foes. Between waves, players can choose "Boons & Banes" to influence their aether collection.

The Fell Council

After progressing through numerous waves, players will encounter the Fell Council, a trio of minibosses randomly selected from a pool of five. Defeating the Fell Council grants players access to the Spoils of Hell, which includes Equipment, Materials, Gold, and Greater Equipment with powerful Greater Affixes.

Accessing Infernal Hordes

Obtaining the Infernal Compass

Players can acquire the Infernal Compass by clearing endgame bosses, Helltides, Nightmare Dungeons, and Whispers. The compass can be upgraded through various in-game scrolls, with higher tiers presenting more formidable enemies and greater rewards.

Test Realm Availability

Infernal Hordes will be available for testing on the Diablo 4 Public Test Realm from June 25 to July 2. Players are encouraged to provide feedback during this period to help fine-tune the mode before its official release.

Additional Season 5 Features

Quality of Life Improvements

Season 5 will also introduce several quality of life enhancements:

  • Endgame Bosses: Easier to fight in succession without resetting the dungeon.
  • Helltide and Whispers: Improved loot and mechanics.
  • Class Weapon Tweaks: Expanded weapon usage for more classes.
  • Accessibility Features: New auto-pin, audio navigation, and on-screen compass options.

Season 5 of Diablo 4 brings fresh excitement with the Infernal Hordes mode. This wave-based roguelite challenge, along with significant quality of life improvements, promises to reinvigorate the game.
