Diablo 4's Season 2: A Legendary Loot Bonanza

Diablo 4, the iconic action role-playing game from Blizzard, has always been about the thrill of the hunt - the hunt for powerful gear and legendary items. With the introduction of Season 2, players are experiencing a loot drop rate that's so generous it feels almost like an exploit. But, as it turns out, this is all part of Blizzard's grand design.

The Blood Harvests: A Revamp of Helltides

Season 2 introduces the Blood Harvests, a revamped version of the Helltides from the game's earlier days. These are limited-time events that dominate a section of the game map. Populated by hordes of demons, these events drop a unique currency that players can use to unlock chests and other items brimming with loot.

At the heart of these verdant zones, players will find a skull icon on their map, indicating the event's remaining duration. This is also the location of three "Blood Lure Pedestals". Players can activate these pedestals using Blood Lures, which are dropped by the enemies within these zones. Once all three pedestals are activated, a group of formidable bosses emerges, and defeating them results in a veritable shower of loot.

Legendary Loot Galore

What's truly astonishing about these bosses is their generosity. Each one seems to drop at least two Legendary items. This is a stark contrast to Season 1, where multiple Legendary drops were a rare sight, especially below level 50. Now, it feels like it's raining Legendary items, creating an experience that feels almost surreal.

Blizzard's president, Mike Ybarra, confirmed that this was an intentional move. Addressing the community on X (previously known as Twitter), Ybarra mentioned that loot drops in Season 2 have been restructured based on player feedback. The new system ensures that loot is no longer gated by levels. Instead, as players level up, they can expect higher item level gear drops consistently, all the way to level 100. This means that every level gained offers the potential for new and improved loot, eliminating the monotony of receiving similar items post level 60.

A Season of Bounty

The overwhelming sentiment among players is one of astonishment at the sheer volume of high-quality loot now available. Previous frustrations, such as the overabundance of gems cluttering inventory space, seem to have been addressed. Now, players find their inventories brimming with coveted Legendary items. Indeed, Season 2, aptly named the Season of Blood, could just as easily be dubbed the Season of Bounty.

Conclusion

Diablo 4's Season 2 is a testament to Blizzard's commitment to listening to its player base and making adjustments that enhance the gaming experience. With the season set to run until January 23, players have ample time to dive in and reap the rewards of their battles. Whether you're a seasoned Diablo veteran or a newcomer to the world of Sanctuary, now is the perfect time to join the fray and claim your share of the legendary loot bounty.

Updated Legendary Drop Rates & BloodShard prices for 2.2

Finally done with the 2.2 update, took awhile this time around. A lot of new items, so I might have made a few errors, if you find any please let me know.

The spreadsheet can be found here. Or as an Excel download here.

Navigate it via. the tabs at the bottom or top.

Any suggestions or possible errors, please point them out here or PM me.

Note: If you want to make a copy for yourself, go to File > Make a Copy. This might not work if too many people are viewing the document at the same time, only solutions I know of is to come back another time and try again.

Note: If you cannot navigate the list with the tabs at the bottom, the document has probably been forced into HTML only mode. That happens when there is too much traffic to a document, nothing I can do from my end.

Note: If you are one of those weird people who use periods instead of commas for decimal places. First make a copy for yourself, explained above. Then go to File > Spreadsheet settings and set it to the relevant Locale.

Legendary Item Names and the Development Team

I'm very interested in Diablo lore. So if you're like me, then you probably have wondered where all these names come from, like Mask of Jeram or Eye of Peshkov (or maybe not, y'all probably have more interesting questions :P). Anyway, if you check out the Diablo 3 credits, you start to see that while these names seem made up, they're not actually all that random. So I made a list of the items, along with the developer/designer/artist names that they came from. I probably missed a few, so if you figure out any others, please let me know!

Item names:

Item Descriptions:
  • Josh Mosquiera - Wall of Man/Wall of Bone - Named for the Battle of Josqueira, a conflict so long and fierce that men used the skeletons of their fallen comrades to build fortifications.
  • Zaven Haroutunian - Thundergod's Vigor - "And the god of thunder struck down transgressors with great fury and vengeance..." —Scrolls of Haroutunian
  • John Heuerman - The Zweihander - Longsword favored by Heuerman and the loyalists during the Entsteig Rebellion.
  • Chris Amaral - Goldwrap - Crafted in the Amaral Mountains by the Kaniuga artisans, its fibers seem to draw gold from the very air.
  • Jon Dvorak - The Flow of Eternity - "When one's mind floats along the unseen trails that pulse through the world, one’s movements become effortless." —Dvorak, Sage of the Many
  • James Southall - Lut Socks - Southal of Lut Bahadur crafted these boots in order to reach high, open windows to make his thieving easier. He was last seen disappearing into the night in the claws of a large carrion bat.
  • Sojin Hwang - Mirinae, Teardrop of the Starweaver - “It was said that once a year, the two lovers would arrive at opposite river banks. A bridge of birds would form so they could touch. When they parted, their tears filled the land. Mirinae is one such tear. The sadness and rage in its core will only affect those close to it.” -Scholar Sojin Hwang
Embodiment of the Marauder Set - Has sayings from many of the devs:
  • Ken Morse - Hunter Kee Morse - Marauder's Encasement
  • John Yang - Hunter John Yang - Marauder's Spines
  • Aaron Gaines - Hunter Aoron Gunes - Marauder's Treads

Indirect References:
  • Ramaladni's Gift - Travis Day's old World of Warcraft Warrior was named Indalamar.
  • Faithful Memory - Faithful Memory is a reference to Ben Boos, an artist who worked on D3 and passed away. - The Boosenian smiths forged swords with a technique centuries beyond their time. Few craftsmen have been able to replicate the quality of their work.

How does it look like and how does it feel like, when you collected all class items (17 sets)? Look inside :)

Different people might play the game differently. For me the biggest fun part has been collecting class set items, I mean not only T-only sets but all 17 sets. Last Saturday I collected my last piece - Roland's Visage. I was feeling extremely satisfying and can't wait to share the joy and show case all the sets with my fellow redditers! You can find out how the sets look like and how it feels when set requirements all brighten up! Enjoy!

Idea - Make Legendary Items Unrecognizable Before Identifying

I'm probably in the minority here, but I would love for legs to be unrecognizable. I feel like being able to identify the piece just by sight takes away a little something for me. It's kind of like ruining Christmas morning by knowing what I'm already getting, or finding out your wife is throwing you a surprise birthday party two weeks before the damn party.

A fast and efficient way of farming any Set or Legendary crafting material.

I realised that alot players might not know exactly how easy it is to get yourself a crafted set.. and I mean a good one. I'm going to make this guide as 'new player' friendly as possible.

Step 1: Join a Mat Farming community. There are heaps, I'm sure there's one for your server, however I'm using my own (US) as an example. The most popular US channel is 'Mat Farming'.

Step 2: Go over and check out the Diablofan's guide on Mat drop locations. Today we're going to use Aughlid's Mat farming as an example. You're looking for a 'Shard of Ensteig Plate'. As you can see, using the guide there are many bounties available that spawn this mob, because of which I think that Aughlid's is the easiest and most farmed mat in the game.

Acquired from: Act I, Defiled Crypt, The Matriarch's Bones Event, Lord Dunhyld (Event spawn Enraged Phantom), Bounty: The Matriarch's Bones
Act I, The Festering Woods, Feklar's Ghost (Rare spawn Enraged Phantom), Bounty: Kill Feklar's Ghost
Act I, The Festering Woods, Hawthorne Gable (Rare spawn Enraged Phantom), Bounty: Kill Hawthorne Gable
Act II, Unknown Dephts, The Archivist (Event spawn Enraged Phantom), Bounty: Kill The Archivist
Act II, Tomb of Khan Dakab, Spirit of Khan Dakab (Event spawn Enraged Phantom), Bounty: Lost Treasure of Khan Dakab
Act II, Realm of Shadow, The Tomekeeper (Rare spawn Enraged Phantom), Bounty: Kill the Tomekeeper
Where to farm: Act I, The Festering Woods
Source: Diablofans
As you can see there are 3 for act 1 and 2 for act 2.

Step 3: Open up Diablo 3 and set your game to Torment 6. We are using t6 because the drop rate will be 77%. (It's recommended that if you're a fresh level 70 that you may want to start out at a lower difficulty, check the top of the Diablofans guide for drop rates regarding different difficulties)

Start the game and hit the 'm' key and then right click to zoom out, hover your cursor over the exclamation marks about Act 1 and 2 and scan for the desired bounties. If there are none, leave game and start a new one until there are.

If you've found one, check to see if there are more before making your way as close as possible to the mat dropping mob. We do this because unless you're Paragon 300 or above, we're going to ask to be carried, which most higher levels don't bat an eyelid to because they're receiving rare crafting mats in exchange and it speeds up the process in general.

Step 4: Say you've found the Matriarch's Bones quest and have made it all the way to the ghost who starts the quest, we then post to our 'Mat Farming' community something along the lines of "t6 aughlids, need carry" and we have a game full of higher level players in seconds, they'll most likely just roll through, fuck everything up and if you're 77% lucky your mat will drop.

Remember always to thank them for the carry.

Step 5: Repeat. You're going to need multiple mats to craft good items, the more chances at crafting an item you have, the more likely it is that one of them will be good.

Hope this helps you, happy farming.

Legendary Potion Bug/Exploit

Hi Guys,

This bug allows, you to have the legendary potion equiped (so you can use it) but not have it in your inventory.

It's pretty self explanatory:

8-10B exp/hour + tons of legendaries!

Malthael campaign T6 is currently bugged and gives 243 million exp! Will be fixed REALLY soon! This can give a brutal amount of exp per hours!

Step 1. Put it on T6 & Go to malthael in campaign (ONLY WORKS T6 CAMPAIGN)
Step 2. Kill him.
Step 3. Watch the exp (quest reward will be bugged) and you will recieve 243 million exp if you've got the exp bonus.

The Furnace is almost a must for this since it basically oneshots the boss.

AFK Legendary Farming 2.0 - New Method

I stumbled across this forum not too long ago, didn't know a site like this existed. I've used a lot of the AFK farming methods mentioned here until they got fixed. Recently I discovered a new method to AFK farm that should not be as easily patched like the others. This method does not get any significant gold or XP, only legs but this is the main goal of AFK farming anyways, as the gold and XP aren't that great in the previous methods. As far as I know, this has not been mentioned elsewhere so I decided to sign up and share this with you guys.

The concept is simple, but the execution takes optimization for your class/skills/gear. Basically, this method takes advantage of the guaranteed leg you get after x hours. Here's a quote from blue on this.

We do have a safety net in place to help even out those long periods without a Legendary drop in the form of (what we call) the “unlucky” bonus. This bonus slowly increases your Legendary drop rate over time and is based on the amount of time you’ve spent fighting monsters without seeing a Legendary drop normally.

This is the basis for all the previous AFK farming methods; it is why killing trash whites will still net legs over time. It seems the timer is roughly 2 hrs before you are guaranteed a leg. However, you DO NOT HAVE TO KILL ANYTHING for the timer to count up, you just have to be engaged in combat. See where I'm going with this? The concept to this method is simple and as follows:

1) Find any large group of monsters (No longer requires infinite spawn locations!)
2) Use a method that will allow you to slowly kill them while afk over several hours
3) ???
4) Profit

Depending on how you do it, a large pack can last for 10+ hours. It will not last indefinitely but will be long enough fort a night's sleep or a day's work. You can easily "reset" by making a new game and starting again. I have done this and gotten the 1 leg/2 hr average that I've been getting with previous infinite spawn AFK methods. The trick is optimizing your set up, but once you do you can start it up trivially.

Here's how I do this with my WD, but this method works with any class. The farm spot I use is A3 Areat Core where it spawns a bunch of those small trash mobs. I stack a lot of LPS and toughness. For my WD passives I use jungle fortitude, blood ritual and physical attunement to stay alive. I also have the ring that doubles your LPS based on your life, forgot the name, as well as St. Andrews Gage for the periodic shield. This shield gives me a buffer time for my LPS to catch up so I stay alive. I also have the shoulder that makes everything not take durability damage.

I run around aggroing everything I can, easily 50+ since there are so many of those little guys. I stick my guy in a corner so I only get attacked by a few at a time while the others wait in line. I spam Hex-Hedge Magic using something to hold down my key to not be afk. Hedge magic is perfect since it summons a guy that does no damage and heals me to stay alive.

For my kill method I use a low level item that has some thorn damage and Bul-Kathos's Wedding Band. Bul-Kathos deals 0.4% of their max life in damage (also heals you, bonus!). Here's a quick table of how much damage Bul Kathos deals by itself:

Time(min) - % Health remaining
0 - 100
1 - 79
2 - 62
5 - 30
10 - 9
20 - 0.81
40 - 0.0066

The ring itself can not kill anything so I use a little thorn damage to finish them off and the first mob dies in about an hour. Since the ring is AOE, once the first one dies, others slowly follow at a steady pace every 10-20 min. I usually wake up to 3/4s dead and several legs. I just remake a game and in 3 min I've aggroed a bunch and set it up again (no more RNG luck to find a specific spawn location anymore!).

So it takes some optimization to get it set up and depends on what gear/skills you have access to, but once you have it down it will work forever. The ring helps, but I'm sure you can figure out another way to do it, be creative. You also might have more luck at different locations and with other mobs. Good luck!

Easy Resplendet Chest - Not Safe, not 100% guaranteed

As the titel already says: This method is NOT safe and it is NOT 100% guaranteed.

  • Step 1: Start Act II - City of Blood.
  • Step 2: Finish the first part of the quest - Travel through the Khasim Outpost's east gate.
  • Step 3: After Step II you should get a checkpoint.
  • Step 4: Run into the middle of the area and you'll maybe get the Resplendet Chest (IMPORTANT: There is ALWAYS a unique mob called Erach) - the area should look like above image Step 4.1: Run back to the outpost if you don't like to die and log out/leave the game
  • Step 5: Restart the game, go through the portal, repeat Step 4

So far i got 1 legendary item out of 4 chests in about 15 minutes on torment 6.

I am sure there are much better ways to get legendary items, but this is still a good method.
