Diablo Immortal Players Say Custom Wing Rerolls Are Eating Thousands of Orbs

Diablo Immortal's customizable wings are supposed to give high-Resonance players considerably more control over how their enormous decorative back furniture looks. A new bug report suggests the system may instead be giving some players a very expensive lesson in probability. One player says they performed more than 30 Wing Customization rerolls without unlocking a single new option, leaving them questioning whether the interface is misleading, the system is malfunctioning or they have simply encountered an exceptionally unfriendly stretch of RNG.

The report becomes more interesting because it is not the first complaint of its kind. Another player previously documented going through 600 additional wing pulls without unlocking a new color or material, after already spending heavily on the system. That older report eventually saw progress resume after another 15 attempts, suggesting the system may allow extremely long gaps between meaningful unlocks even when nothing is technically broken.

More Than 30 Rerolls Produced No New Unlocks

The new bug report was posted on September 1. The player says they rerolled their wings more than 30 times without unlocking anything new and argues that information shown by the interface appears to imply that another material should become available after roughly ten rerolls.

They contacted Blizzard Customer Support and say several support responses suggested something may have gone wrong, but that support could not directly resolve the issue. The player estimates that the unsuccessful attempts consumed more than 4,800 units of premium currency.

There is a terminology wrinkle here. The post refers to “pearls,” but Blizzard's official Wing Customization explanation says rerolls use Astral Plumes, with each Plume costing 160 Eternal Orbs. Thirty rerolls at that price equals 4,800 Orbs, so that appears to be the relevant premium-currency figure.

Blizzard Doesn't Actually Promise a New Material Every Ten Rolls

This is also where the report becomes less straightforward than a simple missing-reward bug. Blizzard's published description of the system does not state that every tenth reroll guarantees a completely new Wing Material. It says Color variations are available initially, VFX variations unlock after two restyles and Shape variations become available after nine restyles. Blizzard also says that committing more rolls gradually unlocks additional variations.

That is not quite the same thing as guaranteeing a brand-new material every ten attempts.

If the current in-game interface communicates something stronger, then the problem may be the wording rather than the underlying randomization. Either way, a premium cosmetic system where players are spending thousands of Orbs needs to make the distinction remarkably clear. “You have unlocked the ability for this thing to appear” and “you will receive this thing after ten rolls” are two very different sentences when every button press costs premium currency.

Another Player Previously Went 600 Pulls Without Progress

The concern also has some history. In April, another player reported making 600 additional Wing Customization pulls without receiving another color or material. They estimated those attempts represented another $1,250 spent on the system after an earlier 600 pulls.

Interestingly, that story did not end with confirmation of a bug. The player later updated the thread to say that after waiting and eventually continuing, new traits started appearing again roughly 15 pulls later. Their conclusion shifted toward frustration with the system's undisclosed progression and odds rather than certainty that it was technically broken.

That context matters. Two complaints do not prove that Diablo Immortal's Wing Customization system is malfunctioning, and neither Blizzard nor NetEase has confirmed a new bug affecting unlock rates. What they do demonstrate is how difficult the system can be for players to understand once long streaks of unsuccessful rerolls begin.

Diablo Immortal Keeps Expanding Its Wing Economy

The timing is particularly noticeable because Blizzard is still expanding the system. August introduced Frost, Mother of Pearl and Voidrealm materials while retiring several older Wing Materials from random refinement, something we covered when Diablo Immortal removed three materials from the active customization pool. The maximum Wing Score also increased to 10,200, giving dedicated players even more progression to chase.

It is part of a broader push toward increasingly elaborate premium cosmetics. We recently saw Diablo Immortal introduce a 4,500-Orb cosmetic dye unlock, while another player reported spending 4,500 Orbs on a cosmetic enhancement they could not initially use.

Randomness is one thing when the reward is another pair of yellow boots from a demon.

It becomes rather more important to explain the rules when each spin of the wheel costs 160 Eternal Orbs.

Diablo Immortal Just Retired Three Wing Materials — Here’s What Happens to Your Old Wings

Diablo Immortal has started cleaning out another corner of its increasingly enormous cosmetic system.

This time, it is wings.

Three existing Wing Material types can no longer be obtained through Wing Customization following the August 12 update:

  • Mirror Glass
  • Spectrum Crystal
  • Astral Prism

Before anyone begins checking their character's back for missing decorative architecture, there is some important good news.

Your existing wings are safe.

Blizzard says wings already created with those materials, along with their refinement records, remain unaffected and can continue to be used and retained.

The materials themselves are simply leaving the active customization pool.

You Can Keep the Old Wings

This is not the same kind of retirement Diablo Immortal recently applied to Legendary Essences or the Issatar Imbued Set.

Nothing is being deactivated.

If you already have wings using Mirror Glass, Spectrum Crystal or Astral Prism, their appearance remains intact.

The associated refinement records remain intact too.

What changes is your ability to produce more of them.

Blizzard says the three outgoing materials can no longer be locked during Wing Customization and can no longer appear through random refinement.

So if you already have a particularly nice old combination, congratulations.

You now own the Diablo Immortal equivalent of discontinued wallpaper.

Three New Wing Materials Take Their Place

The old materials are being replaced by three entirely new material series:

  • Frost
  • Mother of Pearl
  • Voidrealm

These are now part of the Wing Customization system and form the next stage of Blizzard's expanding Awakened Wing progression.

The important word here is progression.

Diablo Immortal's wings stopped being simple Resonance trophies quite some time ago. They are increasingly becoming a customization system of their own, complete with materials, refinement records, scores, saved appearances and leaderboard rewards.

Apparently attaching two enormous glowing objects to your shoulder blades was only the beginning.

The Maximum Wing Score Is Now 10,200

The new materials also push the upper end of the system higher.

Blizzard has increased the maximum possible Wing Score to 10,200.

New server-wide reward tiers have been added at Wing Scores of 10,100 and 10,200, giving the most dedicated wing refiners another pair of milestones to chase.

Whether that sounds exciting or like a spreadsheet has grown feathers probably depends on how deeply you are already invested in the system.

Favorites Might Be the Better Change

The more immediately useful addition may actually be the new Favorites feature.

Once a player refines a Wing above a Wing Score of 8,000, they can permanently save up to four refinement records as Favorites.

Favorited records are removed from the normal refinement history and preserved permanently, which means a particularly good result no longer has to sit precariously in a rolling history while you continue experimenting.

Players who already owned a Wing above 8,000 before the update automatically unlock Favorites.

That may sound like a small quality-of-life improvement.

If you have ever accidentally refined away from something you immediately wanted back, it probably sounds considerably larger.

Diablo Immortal Is Rotating Cosmetics Too

The wider pattern is becoming increasingly clear.

Blizzard is not only rotating Legendary powers and Set items anymore.

Parts of Diablo Immortal's cosmetic progression are beginning to rotate as well.

The difference is that the wing system is handling the transition much more gently.

Your old result stays.

Your old refinement record stays.

Only the ability to generate more versions using those materials disappears.

That is probably the least painful version of retirement possible in a game built around collecting things.

And with Frost, Mother of Pearl and Voidrealm arriving immediately afterward, Blizzard clearly does not intend for the Wing Customization menu to get any smaller.

Just different.

And, inevitably, slightly more complicated.

Diablo Immortal Customizable Awakened Wings Explained — and Why EU Players Don’t Have It Yet

One of the more unusual Diablo Immortal updates in recent weeks has nothing to do with demons, PvP, or new quests. It is about Awakened Wings — and more specifically, about finally letting players customize them. Blizzard introduced the new Wing Customization feature in its February update coverage and then folded it into the broader Patch 4.3 rollout, confirming that players with enough Resonance can now tweak the appearance of their wings instead of being locked into a single final form.

That is the good news. The awkward part is that Blizzard also says the feature is not yet available in the EU region. So yes, Diablo Immortal now has a system that lets some players fine-tune one of the game’s biggest visual flexes, while EU players get the classic live-service experience of staring politely through the shop window.

What the New Wing Customization Feature Actually Does

Blizzard says the system lets players with Awakened Wings customize their appearance by rerolling their visual traits. The feature is handled through Yaira in Westmarch, and once unlocked, players can use a new currency called Astral Plumes to reroll wing appearance options. Blizzard also says players can lock one attribute and reroll the others, which makes the system a lot less random than a total cosmetic reset every time.

That means this is not just a simple “choose color A or color B” toggle. It is a more detailed cosmetic tuning system meant to give high-end players more control over one of Diablo Immortal’s most visible status symbols. Since wings are one of the first things people notice in town hubs and group content, Blizzard is very obviously treating this as a prestige feature rather than a minor menu tweak.

How You Unlock Customizable Awakened Wings

According to Blizzard, players need 1,000 Resonance to claim their first customizable Wings from Yaira in Westmarch. That makes the feature much more accessible than some older wing-related progression thresholds in Diablo Immortal, which have historically skewed much higher.

That lower threshold matters because it opens the system to a larger slice of the player base than the older top-end wing prestige structure. It is still not exactly a feature for brand-new characters wandering out of the tutorial in sandals, but it is much less exclusive than the older Awakened Wing prestige path many players associate with very high Resonance milestones. Blizzard’s older wing framework, for example, tied later Wing Awaken unlocks to much higher Resonance totals, including 10,000 Resonance for Transcendent Wings and 12,000 Resonance for Transcendent Wings (Sacred).

What Are Astral Plumes?

Blizzard says Astral Plumes are the item used to reroll wing appearance traits inside the new customization system. You bring them to Yaira, reroll the look, optionally lock one stat or trait, and keep going until you land on something that looks worthy of your account’s level of cosmetic intimidation.

Blizzard’s official posts do not position Astral Plumes as some broad account-wide progression mechanic. They are specifically tied to this new cosmetic customization loop, which makes them important mainly for players who care about optimizing the look of their wings rather than just unlocking them.

Why EU Players Still Don’t Have It

Here is the catch: Blizzard explicitly says the Wing Customization system is not yet available in the EU region. That note appears in the current official Patch 4.3 article, which means this is not just an old delay notice that quietly disappeared. As of today, Blizzard is still flagging EU as excluded from the feature for now.

Blizzard does not give a detailed explanation in the patch article for why EU is excluded, so anything more specific than that would be speculation. The only fully grounded takeaway right now is that the system exists, it is officially live in supported regions, and EU players are still waiting.

Why This Is a Bigger Deal Than It Sounds

On the surface, customizable wings may look like the kind of vanity feature only a small fraction of the player base will care about. In practice, Diablo Immortal has always leaned heavily into visible prestige. Wings are not just decoration; they are social shorthand. They tell other players, instantly and from a distance, that you have invested a lot into your character — whether through time, money, or both.

So giving players more control over that visual identity is actually pretty meaningful, especially in a game where character presentation is a large part of the endgame loop. And because the feature starts at 1,000 Resonance rather than only at the absurd top of the ladder, Blizzard is clearly trying to broaden that prestige system a bit rather than keeping all wing expression locked behind the most extreme spend thresholds. That second point is analysis, but it follows directly from Blizzard’s stated unlock requirement.

A Good Feature With an Awkward Rollout

The feature itself sounds smart. More visual control, rerolls through Yaira, a dedicated currency, and the ability to lock one trait all make sense for a cosmetic system built around long-term tweaking. The rollout, though, is a lot messier because Blizzard is promoting the update globally while still noting that EU players cannot use it yet.

That makes this one of the stranger Diablo Immortal additions right now: a feature that is real, useful, and interesting — but also regionally incomplete. If Blizzard clears that EU limitation soon, customizable Awakened Wings could become one of Patch 4.3’s more popular side features. Until then, EU players are left doing what live-service players do best: waiting while everyone else shows off.
