The PTR runs from August 4 at 10:00 a.m. PDT until August 11 at 10:00 a.m. PDT.
Blizzard is not revealing the entire season yet. Some larger surprises are being saved for BlizzCon.
There is still plenty to test, including Soul Splinters, direct Mythic upgrades, Legacy Uniques, Challenge Dungeons, Overland Ambushes, Character Rebirth and the new Horadric Post.
Here is where players should begin.
Test The Direct Unique-To-Mythic Upgrade
The most important experiment is the new Horadric Cube recipe that directly converts a chosen Unique into its Mythic version.
Unlike the previous system, it should preserve the original item’s affixes, Tempering and Masterworking.
Players should test whether every modification transfers correctly and whether unusual item combinations create errors.
There is also a major restriction.
Mythics created through this recipe receive the Crafted tag, and only one Crafted-tag Mythic can be equipped.
The upgrade is deterministic.
The equipment department remains deeply suspicious of success.
Push Soul Splinters Until They Break
Soul Splinters are jewellery socketables that provide large bonuses with equally large drawbacks.
Some increase damage while removing Critical Strike Chance. Others improve health, damage reduction or rewards while cutting resources, movement speed or survivability.
PTR players should test how these penalties interact with class mechanics, Uniques and defensive effects.
The most useful feedback will not come from testing them on comfortable builds.
It will come from finding combinations that completely ignore the intended downside.
Try Challenge Dungeons Above Your Difficulty
Challenge Dungeon portals can appear in the open world and lead to specialised boss encounters.
On Torment difficulties, players can increase the encounter by as many as three additional Torment tiers for better rewards.
Blizzard says the bosses used during the PTR are testing the underlying system rather than representing the final Season 15 content.
That makes difficulty scaling, reward quality and encounter stability more important than the specific boss.
Players should test whether the highest setting feels dangerous or merely gives the boss a longer health bar and a stronger relationship with overtime.
Let The Overland Ambush Find You
While travelling through Sanctuary, a powerful demon can occasionally begin hunting the player.
A warning appears before the encounter, followed by 30 seconds to prepare, flee or continue standing beside the blacksmith pretending nothing unusual is happening.
This system needs testing across mounts, towns, events, dungeons and multiplayer groups.
Players should watch for encounters spawning in inaccessible areas, disappearing unexpectedly or attacking characters who have entered another activity.
Compare The Returning Legacy Uniques
Nine classic items from Diablo, Diablo 2 and Diablo 3 are returning as permanent Diablo 4 Uniques.
The PTR includes familiar names such as Stone of Jordan, Leoric’s Crown, Nemesis Bracers, The Furnace and In-Geom.
These are not exact copies of their original versions. Their effects have been adapted to Diablo 4’s item system.
The key question is whether they feel recognisable without becoming museum pieces that immediately go into the stash.
Rebirth A Character You Can Afford To Lose
Character Rebirth allows an Eternal character to enter the Seasonal Realm while resetting to level one.
The character keeps its name, class, appearance, cosmetic settings and accumulated playtime.
Its equipment and inventory do not travel with it.
Blizzard requires characters to remove their items before Rebirth, but PTR players should still test the warnings carefully.
Do not begin with the character carrying every irreplaceable item you own.
Testing requires courage.
It does not require volunteering for a support ticket.
Check The New Horadric Post
The Horadric Post is a new account-wide delivery system for rewards, supplies and messages.
Blizzard plans to send a commemorative PTR reward through it.
Players should check whether deliveries arrive consistently across characters and whether claimed rewards can be duplicated, lost or trapped between realms.
It sounds like a simple mailbox.
Diablo players have seen simpler systems produce considerably larger fires.
Use Mrak To Test Specific Systems
The PTR vendor Mrak returns in major cities with boosts for gold, materials, Uniques, Runes, Talismans, Torment tiers, Paragon levels and Soul Splinters.
Instead of activating every boost immediately, players should test one system at a time.
That makes it easier to identify which item, recipe or mechanic caused a problem.
Creating several specialised test characters will produce better results than building one immortal warehouse containing everything Mrak owns.
How To Join The Patch 3.2.0 PTR
The PTR is available through Battle.net on PC.
- Open Battle.net and select Diablo IV.
- Open the game-version menu above the Play button.
- Select Public Test Realm.
- Install the PTR client.
- Create a Seasonal character for Season 15 testing.
PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate players can access the same Battle.net installation process through the Xbox app.
Season 15 Still Has Secrets
Blizzard has openly stated that this PTR does not contain everything coming in Season 15.
More information is being held for BlizzCon.
That makes this test less of a complete season preview and more of a concentrated systems inspection.
Start with Mythic crafting, push Soul Splinters into unreasonable builds, raise Challenge Dungeons above your comfort level and report anything that catches fire.
Preferably before August 11.
