On November 5, a Diablo IV player reported that completed Season Journey objectives were not delivering their expected rewards, including valuable Mythic equipment and Resplendent Sparks. The complaint concerns Rank IX progression in Season of Hell's Legacy and arrives months after Blizzard addressed earlier problems involving the game's highest seasonal rank.
There is an important limitation to the story: the latest evidence comes from one player posting in two forum discussions, not a newly confirmed widespread bug. Nevertheless, the report raises a familiar question about a system that has already struggled with tracking completed objectives and distributing rewards. When a game promises valuable equipment for finishing difficult challenges, players understandably expect the transaction to involve more than a congratulatory message.
Diablo 4 Player Reports Missing Rank IX Mythic Rewards
The latest complaint appeared on November 5 in a PC bug report on Blizzard's official forums. A player using the name KyleeBear described completing Rank IX seasonal objectives without receiving the expected rewards in their inventory. The player specifically expressed frustration over missing Mythics, explaining that crafting had become their main alternative.
Later that day, the same player replied to an older Rank IX discussion originally created on May 1. In that follow-up, the player said an objective they had completed was also supposed to provide a Resplendent Spark and a guaranteed Mythic reward, neither of which had appeared.
Those statements are worth investigating, but they do not establish exactly where the failure occurred. The reports do not provide enough information to verify whether the required objectives were fully credited, whether the associated rewards had been claimed, or whether a claimed reward failed to arrive.
That distinction matters because Diablo IV has experienced different problems producing very similar symptoms. Sometimes a completed objective fails to count toward a Season Rank. Sometimes the rank is unlocked but its reward cannot be claimed. And sometimes players report that the interface acknowledges a claim while the expected item remains missing.
Blizzard's official Season 15 overview confirms that Season of Hell's Legacy contains nine ranks and 125 objectives. Across the progression system, players can earn up to ten Resplendent Sparks, plus additional Sparks contained in Mythic Caches, alongside five Mythic Unique Caches and numerous other rewards.
Not all of those rewards belong specifically to Rank IX, and Blizzard's general reward list does not independently confirm the exact contents of the objective described in the November complaint. What it does establish is that seasonal progression now represents a significant source of high-value equipment and crafting materials.
That makes missing rewards considerably more serious than a decorative achievement failing to unlock.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time Rank IX has generated complaints. In our August investigation into Season Rank IX progression problems, we documented players who had completed ten or more objectives but still could not claim their Capstone rewards. Some reported that completing additional objectives eventually triggered the unlock, while others remained stuck.
Blizzard had already released relevant fixes in Patch 3.0.3 on May 26. The official patch notes specifically addressed objectives failing to count toward the ten required for Rank IX and other cases where Season Rank progression did not register correctly.
Those fixes addressed documented problems, but later community complaints showed that similar symptoms could still occur. The November report now brings the question into Season 15, although there is no evidence yet that the underlying technical cause is identical.
What Should Players Check If Season 15 Rewards Are Missing?
The potential loss is especially frustrating because Mythic equipment has become central to Diablo IV's current progression systems. Season 15 introduced more predictable crafting through the Horadric Cube, allowing players to upgrade an existing Unique directly into its Mythic counterpart while preserving desirable equipment properties.
That powerful conversion comes with a restriction: Mythics created through the Cube's Upgrade Direct Item to Mythic recipe receive the Crafted designation, and only one item with that designation can be equipped at a time.
However, that is not a universal one-Mythic limit. Blizzard explicitly states that Mythics obtained through ordinary drops, Jeweler Rune Crafting or Blacksmith Mythic Caches do not receive the same Crafted designation. Players can therefore equip multiple Mythics, provided they respect the restriction on directly upgraded Crafted items.
We examined the complications surrounding that rule in our Season 15 Crafted Mythic investigation, including reports from Eternal characters whose older equipment combinations were affected by the returning restriction.
That distinction also makes seasonal Mythic rewards particularly valuable. A Mythic obtained without the limiting Crafted designation can provide additional build options rather than competing for the character's single permitted direct-upgrade slot.
For players who believe a Season Journey reward is missing, the first priority should be establishing exactly what the interface says happened. Before assuming an item has vanished, check the following:
- Verify the completed objectives. Open the Season Journey and confirm that the required objectives are marked complete, rather than relying solely on having finished the associated activities.
- Check the reward's claim status. An unlocked reward is not necessarily a claimed reward. Look for any remaining claim action on the relevant rank or objective.
- Confirm the reward type. Check whether the reward is a Mythic item, a Mythic Unique Cache, a Resplendent Spark or another type of progression reward. A cache may need to be opened before its contents appear.
- Inspect the appropriate location. Check inventory, relevant materials and other applicable reward interfaces, depending on what the objective promises.
- Document any discrepancy. If the interface shows a completed or claimed reward that cannot be found, capture screenshots of the objective, reward description and relevant inventory or materials screen for an official bug report.
Players affected by the older Rank IX tracking problem sometimes reported success after completing additional objectives. That may still be worth considering when a rank refuses to unlock despite apparently sufficient progress, but it is not a verified solution for rewards that already show as claimed.
Nor is there evidence that restarting an entire character or campaign would resolve the November complaint.
Season 15 has already experienced controversy involving reward delivery. In September, we covered players reporting missing Resplendent Sparks from Blizzard's compensation gift, where some claimed that the promised item never appeared through the Horadric Post.
That incident is not known to be connected to Rank IX progression. It does, however, help explain why another complaint about a missing Spark is unlikely to inspire much enthusiasm among players who have already spent months navigating changing Mythic crafting rules.
As of November 6, we have found no public Blizzard response in the new forum discussion confirming the November report as a widespread Season 15 bug or announcing a specific fix. The current evidence remains one player's account of missing rewards, supported by the existence of earlier, separately documented Rank IX problems.
That is enough to warrant attention, but not enough to conclude that every player completing Rank IX is at risk of losing their Mythic equipment.
Diablo IV's endgame is designed around difficult encounters, elaborate character builds and increasingly ambitious damage numbers. Players expect a challenge when hunting the most valuable equipment in Sanctuary. They expect monsters to resist, rare items to remain rare and crafting to require serious investment.
What they should not have to wonder is whether completing a reward objective will actually produce the promised reward.
Sanctuary has enough demons already. The Season Journey does not need to become another one.
